A chapter from American Destiny has been published on The Rauch Review, a literary publication dedicated to creative nonfiction, fiction, and memoir.
Chapter 7 takes readers to Acquaviva delle Fonti and Cassano delle Murge — the Italian towns where Marcella's parents were born and raised. It's the day the family arrives and meets both sets of grandparents for the first time in nearly two decades. There is a feast, an accordion, a grandmother who smells of flour and rosewater, and a white horse named Bianco who remembers his owner's voice after eighteen years apart.
It is one of the most vivid chapters in the book, and we are glad it has found a home with The Rauch Review.
